Alex Toth

Awhile back on the Spectrum Live Facebook Page we had posted Alex Toth's comics retelling of the Howard Hawks/Christian Nyby film The Thing From Another World—which he did masterfully in only 16 panels! Drawn originally for a small press magazine in the early 1970s, it's simply too good not to see larger...so I'm sharing it again here.

Alex Toth [1928-2006] was a superb designer and storyteller, often under-appreciated when compared to other flashier comics folks, but definitely a major influence on other artists and the medium as a whole. Widely known for his crankiness and strong opinions, he was also respected as a creator who not only talked the talk but walked the walk.
