Most Anticipated Art Books for Fall 2015

-By Dan dos Santos

I wrote a post recently showcasing some of my favorite art books of the year so far. A few of those books went out of print very quickly and are already difficult to find.

So, in light of that, here's a peek at some art books that are coming out in the next few months that I already have on pre-order and am really looking forward to.

Fall is always a great time for art books, as publishers roll out new titles for the holiday season. This Fall will see the release of quite a few monographs from some of my fantasy artists that are long overdue in my opinion.

Terryl Whitlatch's Principles of Creature Design

Terryl Whitlatch's Science of Creature Design

  1. Thanks Dan. Could have put it at the top though.

  2. I also recommend the David Downton art book that was just released - it is AMAZING. Reproductions are oversized and of an insane quality, and there is a lot of information about his working process and his inner thoughts about making the art. Plus, he's a personal fav :)

    1. Oh! I didn't know David had his own monograph finally! I have his 'Masters of Fashion Illustration', which I got just for his few pages. Thanks for the heads up!

  4. Are you sure Kaluta's book will come out? It's more than 1 year and a half that the date has been postponed every 20 days

    1. I know... it's been a long wait. But it was listed in last month's 'Previews' as being in shops October 28th. So I think it's official this time.

  7. With regards to the highly expected Kaluta's art book, it is true what Kraan points out. It was first scheduled to be published in July of 2013 by IDW (and before that in 2008 by Desperado !). It has been delayed for two long years and, unfortunately, it appears it will be delayed further more. Amazon now list it as appearing in November 12 and it will surely be postponed because IDW does not list it in the products shipping in October (http://www.previewsworld.com/Home/1/1/71/916?articleID=166076), November (http://www.previewsworld.com/Home/1/1/71/916?articleID=167200) or December (http://www.previewsworld.com/Home/1/1/71/979?articleID=168619). I wish somebody at IDW would explain what's the problem with this long awaited book.

  8. Today Amazon shows 2 different dates. One is 17 December, the other is 24. I believe we will not see it under our trees. Anytime soon. Pity.
